BELIEF STATEMENT

We maintain a sure belief that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  We believe the Bible is the foundation for instruction in the Christian faith. Paul said, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16, NIV).

The statements below are a few belief statements that BCF feels are needed to help prospective attendees understand some key tenants of where BCF stands on the scriptures, Jesus, God, the Trinity, sinful man, salvation and the Holy Sprit’s guidance for living as a believer.  We can never suggest, however, that these statements adequately summarize the Bible.

We believe the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, to be the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men and the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where he is our High Priest and Advocate at the right hand of God.

We believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify God, convict men of sin, indwell, guide, comfort, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service.

We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost and only the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection can provide grounds for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit, and thus become the children of God.

The second coming of Christ is imminent and includes the resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive.  Along with the second coming there will be a final judgment.  Those people whose name are not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in hell.  Those names found in the Book of Life will be welcomed into heaven to be with Jesus and God for eternity.
